On November 12, 2019, CHRJ organized a “Consultation Session on Implementation of Labor Standards in Punjab” as part of its #KnowYourRights Campaign. Mr. Ahmed Sohail moderated the session, Director CHRJ Amna Rashid chaired the session. Mr. Farooq Tariq (Labor Rights Activits, HRCP, Kisan Rabita Committee), Mr. Hafiz Muzaffar Mohsin (Director Social Security Lahore), Mr. Sohaib Marghoob (Journalist Labor Issues), Barrister Aon Abbas (Labor Law Lawyer) and Advocate Umar Rashid (Associate Director SLP) participated as expert panelists in the session.
Director Amna Rashid gave a brief presentation on the study conducted by CHRJ on the implementation of Labor Standards in the Retail Sector of the Textile Industry in Punjab. Following which the honorable guests shared their expertise. The discussion focused on designing feasible recommendations on ways to implement, as well to improve these standards for better provision of workers’ rights and better working conditions from the ground level.
